Barcelona have beaten a host of clubs to the signing of Brazilian youngster Emerson from Atletico Mineiro. The likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Valencia were all monitoring the full-back's progress in recent months, but Barcelona have now won the race for his signature. Emerson will move to the Camp Nou on July 1 in a 12m (£10.5m) deal having put pen to paper on a five-year contract which will keep him at the club until summer 2024. Prior to joining Barcelona, the 20-year-old will spend the rest of this season on loan at fellow La Liga outfit Real Betis.
