World Cup Watch: Mead stars in England win

We had four Gunners in Women’s World Cup action over the weekend. Read on to find out how they fared. Beth Mead played 71 minutes for England on Sunday as they kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win over Scotland in Group D. Nikita Parris got the Lionesses off to the perfect start, converting from the spot in the 14th minute, before former Gunner Ellen White doubled their advantage with a cool finish past Lee Alexander. Lisa Evans, who started the fixture alongside Kim Little and Jennifer Beattie, then went on to assist Claire Emslie’s late strike, but it was too little too late for Scotland.
