Mikel Arteta admits player fitness worry as Arsenal face six games in 17 days

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes there will be a “big question mark” over the fitness of players when the Premier League gets back underway next week. England’s top flight returns with two midweek matches on Wednesday 17 June, when Arteta’s Gunners go away to Manchester City and Aston Villa host Sheffield United. Teams have only been back in full contact training since the end of May, however, with a number of friendly matches also being carried out across the country. And Arteta, whose team are due to play six games in 17 days, admits he is concerned about player fitness ahead of the restart, insisting friendlies are “not like the Premier League rhythm at all”.
