Arsenal 'shelve plans to sign new goalkeeper'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will reportedly keep stand-in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez at the Emirates Stadium for at least another 12 months. Having never been regarded as first-choice stopper during his nine-year stay with the Gunners, Martinez was expected to be sold during the next window. However, since Bernd Leno's season-ending injury in June, Martinez has impressed between the sticks, conceding just two goals from five matches. According to The Mirror, Arteta is no longer contemplating alternatives to the 27-year-old ahead of the next campaign.
