Arsenal beat Man Utd to Gabriel Magalhaes deal with the help of director Edu

Arsenal beat Manchester United to the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes thanks to their technical director Edu. The 42-year-old, who played for the Gunners between 2001 and 2005 before joining Valencia, was named as the club’s first ever technical director in July of last year. At the time the former defender was described as a “true Arsenal man” by Raul Sanllehi, and his work this summer is likely to go down very well with supporters. Edu is said to have paid a key role in signing their new Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes, which made all the difference when they were compared with other clubs.
