Arsenal 'join Manchester United, Liverpool in Nuno Mendes race'

Arsenal are reportedly the latest Premier League club to register an interest in Sporting Lisbon youngster Nuno Mendes. The recently-turned 18-year-old has already been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool after making nine top-flight appearances for Sporting last season. Predominantly used as a left wing-back, Mendes is said to have also caught the eye of AC Milan, who are rumoured to have had a £13.5m bid rejected earlier this summer. Portuguese outlet O Jogo reports that Arsenal are now ready to make an approach for the Sporting academy player, but they may have to pay around £40m for his services.
