Mikel Arteta says Alex Runarsson adds competition to Arsenal goalkeeper battle

Alex Runarsson has joined Arsenal to provide competition for Bernd Leno. The 25-year-old Iceland international has been brought in as a direct replacement for Emiliano Martinez - who forced through a move to Aston Villa after failing to secure the No. 1 spot. Mikel Arteta has outlined his plans for the former Dijon stopper following his switch to north London, with technical director Edu revealing that they have been monitoring the player for some time.
