The Gunners were one of the form teams since the turn of 2015, securing third place in the table and beating Aston Villa 4-0 at Wembley to retain the FA Cup. There was, though, a lingering sense of what might have been, following a disappointing exit to Monaco in the last 16 of the Champions League and not being able to reel in Chelsea due to their slow start.
