AFCON 2022: Partey’s Ghana lose opening game

Thomas Partey faced disappointment in his opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations as Ghana were beaten by Morocco after conceding a late goal. In a closely-fought affair, there were few clear-cut chances in the first half - although our midfielder came closest with a free kick that flew over. It was only towards the end of the game in the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium that opportunities arose. Ghana's Joseph Paintsil saw a good effort saved by Yassine Bounou with 20 minutes remaining, before Morocco scored the only goal of the game as Sofiane Boufal seized on a loose ball in the box to fire home.
