Arsenal ready to stand firm amid Atletico interest in star player
The Daily Mail are reporting that Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid retain an interest in long-term target Santi Cazorla, who currently plies his trade at Premier League side Arsenal. Atletico boss Diego Simeone has been unsuccessful during the last two summer transfer windows in his attempts to persuade the attacking midfield maestro to return to his homeland. And Simeone is prepared to give it a third shot at landing Cazorla ahead of the new season. With star midfielder Arda Turan expected to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer, the Argentine manager is looking for a like-for-like replacement, and sees Cazorla as the ideal candidate.
