Arsene Wenger was left frustrated, as were the fans, following Wednesday's EFL Cup defeat. Arsenal were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton, losing Wednesday night's quarterfinal 2-0 and their lengthy unbeaten record in a disappointing night at Emirates Stadium. It is the second time in three seasons that Arsenal have been knocked out of the competition by Southampton at home and on this occasion, goals from Jordy Clasie and Ryan Bertrand giving Saints an unassailable lead by half-time. A much-changed Arsenal never looked like making a game of it and were defeated for the first time in 20 matches in all competitions.
