Kieran Gibbs replaces injured Ryan Bertrand in England squad

Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs has been drafted into the England squad in place of the injured Ryan Bertrand. Bertrand was forced off less than 20 minutes into his side's 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Malta at Wembley this evening after picking up a hamstring injury. The Southampton defender has subsequently been ruled out of Tuesday's match against Slovenia, with Gibbs taking his place in Gareth Southgate's squad. Gibbs is yet to make a Premier League start for Arsenal this season having fallen behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order, with the 27-year-old being restricted to just 37 minutes on the pitch so far.
